Obituary of Charlie Freddie Buffington
Charlie “Freddie” Buffington, a kind generous, and gracious man went to his heavenly home, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Freddie was born on Wednesday, January 30, 1924, in Zebulon, Georgia to the late Joseph Carson Buffington and Lillie Horne Buffington. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Marie Perkins Buffington, 1 sister, 6 brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
His life of 101 years was lived as a Christian, always putting Christ and family first. Freddie was a man of God; he was a member of Milner Baptist Church where he served and attended faithfully. He directed the music in his younger years and was a Deacon of the Church. As a father, he made sure his children knew Christ, taking them to Church and teaching them to pray daily. He also taught his children about love by visiting the sick and feeding transients who would stop by his house and ask for food. Freddie retired from the Textile industry and continued his love of gardening and maintained a beautiful yard. He grew the sweetest tomatoes and shared them with his family and friends. Freddie loved growing sugar cane and many wonderful vegetables. Cutting grass kept him busy and everyone in Milner knew he kept his yard and his wife’s beautiful garden looking beautiful. Freddie mowed grass until he was 100 years old. He maintained the house and kept it as his beloved wife would have over the last 9 years.
