In May, my credit scores were 486 (TransUnion), 514 (Equifax), and 523 (Experian). When I applied for a mortgage loan in June, I was denied due to my low FICO scores. Being new on my job I only met Franklin one time but in that one moment I saw the gentleness of his spirit, the kindness of his heart and his unspoken love for God,

David and I are certainly going to miss our visits from Franklin. He was the first one to visit us after arriving at Stone Mountain Park. His big smile and stories will be missed. If he saw one or both of us outside he would pull up to greet us, visit with us and share wisdom, life experiences and good ole southern hospitality. We shared joys, memories, laughter, tears and prayers. His heart was so full of goodness. We are certainly blessed to have had our precious time with such a wonderful man who we got to know and call friend. He will be missed. Prayers for Teresa and the family as we know your hearts are broken.

My life and Franklin’s life came together for a while when we were both in grammar or middle school at Milner School . That was the late 1950’s or early 1960’s. I’d be pals with fellows who were kind to me, including Franklin. Several of us fellows would be sitting at a table in the library at “study hall”. We were car nuts. As I remember it, he’d be telling us about his Uncle Alton’s Pontiac Bonneville and what a great car it was. Now that I can read about that Bonneville online, I see for myself it was a tremendously great car.
When I was 7, I began trusting Jesus. My parents and the Sunday School teachers at Milner Baptist Church helped me to Jesus. When I was knowing Franklin, I wanted to visit his home and go swimming in their pond. Franklin invited me, and we went swimming. I took the occasion to tell Franklin about Jesus and would he like to get saved. He politely listened. I’d guess that a lot of people helped Franklin along his way to Jesus.
As with my other friends through the years, paths go different ways. Now and then I wondered how Franklin was doing. This obituary tells me that Franklin had a great life in things that really matter, and I’m so glad.

Mr. Franklin was truly one of a kind. Always kind, helpful, and dependable. Whether it was lending a hand around the park or simply sharing a smile, he made everyone feel welcome. He was a bright light in the campground. A true jack of all trades who never hesitated to help anyone. Most of all, the love he had for Teresa was undeniable and unwavering. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

We knew Franklin from camping at Stone Mountain. We camp there every July & October & Franklin was always a friendly face and loved to chat with us and our kids. He will definitely be missed on our visits. Prayers of peace for his family & friends.

Franklin was such a family man. He was always willing to give us his advice, or help with repairs around the house, or even help us financially if we got into a bind. He was always smiling and hugging people. He was a great cook, especially that Thanksgiving dressing. He LOVED God. My family will truly miss our Step-Dad and Grandpa. We are so thankful he is no longer in pain. This just doesn’t seem real. Franklin will always be remembered. RIP. Can’t wait to see you again one day.
