Obituary of Philip Anthony Adkins

Philip “Uncle Phil” Anthony Adkins age 69 of Barnesville passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Philip was born on Friday, November 21,1955, in Rantoul, Illinois to the late Charles William Adkins and Marjorie Alice Hancock. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Kristine Coogle Adkins.

Philip was a lifetime member of the Iron Workers Local 387 Union where he also previously served on the Executive Board.  He was very active in the Lamar County Democratic Party.  He was also a proud member of the 2025 Democratic Party.  He could be found every morning hanging out at the Donut Palace here in Barnesville where he visited with his numerous friends amongst the community.  

He is survived by his brother; Kenneth Adkins (Connie) of Warner Robins, Georgia niece; Alicia Szewczyk (Chris) of Dunwoody, Georgia, great nephew; Jason as well as many friends and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Philip Adkins will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Williams-Westbury Funeral Home, Barnesville Georgia, with Pastor David Dawson officiating. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to Memorial Service.
