Obituary of Jean McBroom
Mrs. Jean Head McBroom of Monticello, Georgia, formerly of Barnesville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Jean was born November 16, 1930 in Fort Valley, Georgia to Bluma and Jennie Mae Head. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Betty Harrison, Margie Glow and Frances Dallas; her husband of 64 years, William Taylor McBroom Jr.; and her dear friend, Lavada Maddox. Jean retired from William Carter Company after over 40 years of service. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Milner and after moving to Monticello attended Callie Fuller Baptist Church.
Jean is survived by her sons, William Taylor McBroom III (Jan) of Griffin, Keith McBroom (Sheila) of Rutledge; granddaughters, Callie McBroom Davis (Keith) of Eatonton, Kathryn McBroom Rieck (Steve) of Decatur; eight great grandchildren, Lola, Willow, Jack, Maci, Nathan, Jacob, Mackay and Robin; several nieces and nephews; and her neighbor and close friend, Ursula Collins.
A funeral service for Mrs. Jean Head McBroom will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 22, 2025 in the Chapel of Williams-Westbury Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Roper officiating. Private interment will be at Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Friends may visit the family on Friday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
