Obituary of Timothy Allen "Tim" Brown
Tim passed away suddenly late in the afternoon on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was born on May 20, 1966, in South Charleston, West Virginia and was adopted shortly after birth by his loving parents, Ms. Patsy Dumas Brown and the late Mr. Jerald M. Brown, of Barnesville. A resident of Thomaston, where he lived with his wife and children, Tim grew up in Barnesville and had many fond memories of time spent with family and friends in this community. Tim is a graduate of Lamar County Comprehensive High School, and he was employed with Yancey Bros. Co. in Griffin, where he had worked for nearly a decade, specializing most recently in parts acquisition and material handling.
Tim will be remembered for his authentic, kind, friendly and easy-going nature. He was a true outdoorsman and loved spending time in nature where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He was quite the grillmaster and a long-time gilling enthusiast, having entered several regional grilling competitions and placing in one. Tim was an avid UGA fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs. He loved his family deeply and cherished spending time with his children and especially his grandson, Billy.
He is preceded in death by his father, the late Mr. Jerald Brown; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dumas, and his brother, Spence Monts de Oca, all of Barnesville. He is survived by his wife, Shannon Brown; his children, Rebecca Brown, Haley (Joseph) Coleman, Nathan Brown, Christian (Branin) Blevins; his mother, Patsy Brown of Barnesville; his brother Blake Monts de Oca of Barnesville; his sister, Shelly Hood of Statesboro, along with additional extended family.
Arrangements will be handled by Williams-Westbury Funeral Home of Barnesville. A memorial service for Tim will be held at First Baptist Church of Barnesville on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM with visitation at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary, Reverend Garth Forster and Reverend Jason Teal officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Rob’s Place (C/O Ellen Criswell) 477 Sunset Terrace, Forsyth, GA 31029 or the First Baptist Church of Barnesville 200 Zebulon Street Barnesville, GA 30204.
