Obituary of Willis Smith

Willis W. Smith, age 82, of 306 South Sixth Street, Vienna, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at his residence. Born in The Rock, Georgia, he was the son of the late Truman Smith and Mildred Williams Smith and a United States Marine Corps veteran. He retired from Georgia Pacific Particle Board where he was an electrical supervisor. Mr. Smith was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a leader in the RA's. He was also a member of the Gideons and performed with the Praise Singers. Survivors include: Wife: Yvonne S. Smith of Vienna Daughters: Elaine Phillips (Tommy) of Vienna Donna Kowalczyk (Bob) of Unadilla Sister: Dot Patrick of Barnesville Sister-in-law: Jean Smith of Thomaston Grandchildren: Matthew Phillips, Mallory Phillips, Ashley Kowalczyk, Alex Kowalczyk and Allen Kowalczyk Great Grandchildren: Jacob Rivera and Avery Kowalczyk Step-Great Grandchild: C. J. Allen Niece: Cristy Caldwell Nephews: Tommy Torbert Johnny Torbert He was preceded in death by his brother, Lanier Smith. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, July 19 in Vienna First Baptist Church. Rev. Brian Leverett and Rev. Matt Stephens will officiate and interment with military honors will be in Vienna City Cemetery. The family will greet friends 10 - 10:45 AM Wednesday, July 19 in Providence Hall of Vienna First Baptist Church and may be contacted at 306 South Sixth Street, Vienna.
