Obituary of Lawrence Smith

Graveside services for Mr. Lawrence Smith will be conducted Sunday morning at 9:30 am in the Milner Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ken Ross officiating. The family will be at the Funeral Home Saturday from 6 until 8 pm. Mr. Smith was a native of Frankford, WV and was raised in Hines W.V. He moved to Atlanta where he worked for A T & T for 35 years and had made his home in Lamar County for the past 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Smith and Freda Burns Smith, and brother Harold Smith and sister Nadine Crist. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Cornett Smith of Milner;daughters, Laura (Sean) Johnson of Wylie, Texas and Wendy (David) Pettit of Clarks Hill, S.C.; sister, Judy Hagan of Hiram, GA; grandchildren, Crystal, Tyler,Austin, Holly, Emily, Sean II, Logan, Alex, Lucas Lawrence, Damon and Heidi; great grandchildren,Summer, Kylee, Leah, Olivia, Maddison, Landon (will be arriving in August and 1 more in December. The family has requested that in Lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Williams Funeral Home of Barnesville is in charge of arrangements.
