Obituary of Jewel Knott
Mrs. Jewel Padgett Knott, age 89, of Barnesville passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in a Macon Healthcare Facility. Mrs. Knott was born in Batesburg, SC to the late Mr. Ruffin Padgett and the late Mrs. Cleola Gantt Padgett, but had made her home in Barnesville for a number of years. Mrs. Knott was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Howard Lamar Knott, Sr., and by her son, Mr. Howard Lamar Knott, Jr. She was Retired as a Supervisor from The William Carter Company. Mrs. Knott was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of 1st National Bank’s 1st Friends, a member of the 121st Infantry Barnesville Blues, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville.
Survivors include 3 Daughters – Evelyn Terry of Parish, FL ; Annette Felahis (& Steve) of Cumming ; Bobbie Brooks (& Chuck) of Barnesville ; 2 Sisters – Margaret Childers of Columbia, SC ; Mildred Poole of Lexington, SC ; 2 Brothers – Vivian “Brother” Padgett (& Margie) of Lexington, SC ; Junior Padgett of Lexington, SC ; 8 Grandchildren ; 12 Great Grandchildren ; & 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Jewel Knott will be conducted at 3 O’clock on Friday, April 1, 2011 in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, March 31, 2011, from 6pm until 8pm.
