Obituary of Mary Dickens

Mrs. Mary Virginia Harwell Dickens, age 76, of Barnesville passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 in a Spalding County Healthcare Facility. Mrs. Dickens was a native of Thomaston, but had made her home in Barnesville for most of her life. Daughter of the late Mr. George Ernest Harwell and the late Mrs. Mary Frances Vann Harwell, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Elijah Dickens. Mrs. Dickens was a Home Maker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Survivors include: 1 Son - Keith Dickens (& Dana) of Concord ; 2 Daughters - Shari Ketchem of Griffin ; & Debra Trosclair (& Joe) of Biloxi, MS ; 2 Sisters - Dot Bentley (& Tom) of Glencoe, AL ; & Shirley Wheeler (& Dan) of Texarcana, TX ; 4 Grandchildren - Jill, Beth, Evan, & Lewis ; and 5 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Virginia Dickens will be conducted Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 1 O’Clock in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with the Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomaston. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, May 3, 2011 from 6pm until 8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church "Alzheimer's Program", 375 Thomaston Street, Barnesville, GA 30204.
