Obituary of Cecil Johnson

Mr. Cecil E. Johnson, age 83, of Barnesville passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends during the last days. Cecil was born in Pike County, but had lived in Barnesville for most of his life. He was the son of the late Mr. Alonzo D. Johnson and the late Mrs. Jessie Marable Johnson, and was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. After serving his country in WWII, he returned to Georgia and met his wife, Emily Shiver in 1950. He was a Police Officer for the City of Barnesville, and also worked for the William Carter Company. After retirement, he worked for Moore Chevrolet. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Survivors include: His loving wife of 61 years - Emily Johnson of Barnesville ; Three Children - Dennis Johnson of Barnesville ; Linda Johnson Andrews of Abu Dhabi, UAE ; & Dan (& Lorrie) Johnson of Hampton ; Two Grandchildren - Lauren Andrews of Decatur & Stuart Andrews of St. Paul, Minnesota ; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Cecil Johnson will be conducted Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2:30pm in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with the Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church Annex Chapel on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 1:00pm until 2:30pm. The family has requested, that in Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions be made to The First Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 Zebulon Street, Barnesville, GA 30204.
