Obituary of William Moore

Reverend William Alton “Billy” Moore, age 84, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 in a Griffin Healthcare Facility. Rev. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of Lamar County. Born to the late Mr. Eunice Artmus Moore and the late Mrs. Bertie McBroom Moore, he loved his family and his Lord. Reverend Moore served God as Pastor of several churches in Barnesville, Griffin, and Thomaston, and served his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He also served his country in the United States Army. Reverend Moore was employed by the William Carter Company, and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include: His wife – Sybil Davis Moore of Barnesville ; 1 Daughter – Janice Moore Andrews (& Dan) of Barnesville ; 1 Son – Alton (& Dale Bagley) Moore of Thomaston ; 2 Grandchildren – Amber Andrews of Barnesville, and Adam (& Ashleighanne Cowart) Andrews of Barnesville ; 2 Great Grandchildren – Kaylie Douglas and Marissa Andrews of Barnesville ; 1 Sister – Carole Dague (& Howard) of Acworth ; 1 Sister-in-law – Collette Shivers of Alpharetta ; and Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral Services for Reverend William Alton “Billy” Moore will be conducted from the Graveside on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2 O'Clock in Greenwood Cemetery with the Reverend Franklin Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 5pm until 7pm.
