Obituary of Richard Stokes

Mr. Richard B. Stokes, age 58, of Barnesville, GA., passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at a Spalding County healthcare facility. Mr. Richard B. Stokes was born on September 30, 1950 in Henderson, KY. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Thomas E. Stokes, Jr. and Elizabeth Ghernman Stokes. Mr. Stokes was a man of great faith and had been serving as the Interim Pastor of Pine View Baptist Church in Barnesville, GA. Mr. Stokes is survived by his Wife: Mrs. Mary “Cathy” Quick Stokes of Barnesville; Daughters: Tammie Smith & Husband, Pete of Barnesville, GA., Serenity McClure & Husband, Carlton of Griffin, GA.; Son: Johnnie “Trey” Cocus of Athens, GA.; Sisters: Rebecca Tapp of Effingham County, GA. and Elisabeth Gatewood & Husband, Artie of Poseyville, IN.; Brother: Thomas E. Stokes, II & Wife, Donna of Crestview, KY.; Grandchildren: Madison Turner, Mary Monroe Smith, Zoe Smith, Johnathon O’Neal, Alexis McWilliams, Jesse McWilliams, James McClure, and Emily McClure; and several other relatives. Funeral Services for Mr. Richard B. Stokes will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 in the Pine View Baptist Church at 11 AM. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Friday evening between the hours of 6 and 8 PM. Interment will be private.
