Obituary of Gracie Van Houten

Mrs. Gracie Kate Smith Van Houten, age 90, of Barnesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in Eatonton, GA. Mrs. Van Houten was born in Montezuma on March 3, 1919 to the late Marion Lee Smith and the late Pearlie Eva Slaton Smith. She was preceded in death by her Husband of 61 years, Mr. Jackson Garrett Van Houten; two infant children; a Son, Marion David Van Houten; Grandson, Michael David Van Houten, and a Brother, Joseph Thomas Smith. Mrs. Van Houten retired as a Seamstress Supervisor for the William Carter Company and was a member of First Baptist Church of Barnesville. She is survived by her Sons & Daughters: Tommy Jack Van Houten (Ann) of Eatonton, Stanley Van Houten (Linda) of Goshen, KY., Katherine Turner (Wendell) of Zebulon, Marcus Van Houten (Randee) of Monroe; Daughter: Marsha Van Houten of Kingsland; Daughter-In-Law: Mary Van Houten of Butler; Adopted Daughter: Denise Sullivan Dixon (Eddie); Sister: Virginia Cobble of Colfax, NC., Sister-In-Law: Dona Turner of Thomaston; Co-Pilot: Julia Torbert of Barnesville; 11 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild. Funeral Services for Mrs. Gracie Kate Smith Van Houten will be conducted on Friday, April 3, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville at 11AM. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2009 in Williams Funeral Home between the hours of 6 and 8 PM. Interment will take place in Lamar Memory Gardens.
