Obituary of Mary Brown

Mrs. Mary Frances Copeland Brown, age 93, was born December 20, 1919 in Henry County and passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Griffin. She was the seventh of eight children, and the youngest girl of the family. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Shirley Eli Copeland and the late Mrs. Irvine Elizabeth Copeland, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. W.H. Brown. She was the oldest living member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church, having been a member there for 63 years. She played the piano, sang in the choir, was a Leader in the Methodist Youth Fellowship, and was active in the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Brown also worked for many years as a Voting Poll worker in Spalding County. She had worked for Lowell Bleachery South of Dundee Mills, Incorporated. In 1964 she became a Master Cosmetologist and ran her own beauty shop, Frances Beauty Shelter in Sunny Side. At the age of 88, she became a Pink Lady with the Griffin Ladies Auxillary at Spalding Regional Hospital. She is survived by: Her 3 Children - Gordon Brown (& Susan) of Hampton, Rosemary Brown Huckaby of Hampton, and Crystal Brown McLean (& Robert) of Orchard Hill ; 5 Grandchildren - Derrick Huckaby, Clay McLean (& Emily), Mary Catherine McLean Cason (& William), Ethan Brown (& Mary Beth), and Cameron Brown ; & 2 Great Grandchildren - Cooper McLean and Waylon Brown. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary “Frances” Brown will be conducted from the Graveside on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2 O’Clock in Griffin Memorial Gardens. The Family request that Memorial contributions be made to the Brightmoor Nursing Home Activities Fund.
