Obituary of Louise Turner

Mrs. Helen Louise Schaffer Turner, age 71, of Barnesville, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016, at the Medical Center, NavicentHealth in Macon. Mrs. Turner was born September 26, 1944 in Macon, daughter of the late Harry Malcolm and Helen Louise Stephens Schaffer. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and a graduate of Gordon College with a degree in Nursing. Mrs. Turner worked at Upson Regional Medical Center for 34 years and was awarded Nurse of the Year during that time. She also owned and operated Turner’s Catering, Floral and Wedding Shoppe. Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, Gene Turner of Barnesville; her children, Marilyn Turner Piper of Barnesville, Mary Jill Turner Springer and her husband Russell Springer of Athens, Edward Turner and his wife Christy Turner of Barnesville; grandchildren, Jonathan Warmack, Heath Warmack, Montana Warmack, Nolan Warmack, Madelyn Piper, Lydia Piper, Abigail Springer and Seth Turner; great-grandchildren, Calvin Warmack and Eli Warmack and; brother, George Schaffer and his wife, Roxanne; sister, Susan Pass Worthey and her husband, Bobby; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter, Angela Turner Warmack Brown, and a brother, Mack Schaffer. Funeral services will be held 2:00 Friday at Antioch Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.
