Obituary of Dorothy Compton Hambrick

Mrs. Dorothy Compton Hambrick, age 80, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at her residence.

Dorothy was born in Elko, Georgia on Thursday, August 19, 1937 to the late Samuel Russell Compton and the late Fannie Lou Griffin Compton of Yatesville. She was also preceded by her husband, Robert Edwin Hambrick, Jr.; son, Bruce Robert Hambrick. Dorothy worked as a purchasing agent at Carters Mill and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and was a good cook. Dorothy remained close to her family her entire life, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Richard Buchanan; grandchildren, Ashley Buchanan Schneider and her husband, Adam, Ryan Hambrick Buchanan and his wife, Anna, and Joshua Thomas Hambrick and his wife, Samantha; great-grandchildren, Zackary Gooden and Audrey Claire Buchanan; sister, Allie Compton Boggs; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Compton Hambrick will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Breedlove Memorial Chapel with Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Williams-Westbury Funeral Home on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of the service.
