Obituary of Marion Edward Hood
Mr. Marion Edward Hood, age 66, of Milner, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018.
Marion was born on Monday, October 8, 1951 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Jesse Edward Hood and the late Bertha Piper Hood. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Hood, who passed away in 1968 in the Vietnam War. Marion was affiliated with law enforcement for 46 years, serving at one time as the City of Barnesville Police Chief and most recently a Deputy Sheriff with Lamar County. He was a gun and knife enthusiast and he loved to travel.
Marion is survived by his daughter, Michelle Handley; grandchildren, Cheridan Maynard and Peyton Maynard; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Frank Abbott; special friend, Frances Torbert; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth and Caleb Tyson, Jessica and Jason Watts, Rachel and Roger Samples, Andrew and Melissa Abbott, Rebekah Abbott and her fiancé, Drew Walker, Timothy Abbott, Esther and Alan Shurling; several great nieces and great nephews; special friends, Lou Ann and Billy Joe Ramsey.
Funeral services for Mr. Marion Hood will held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday evening from 5:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Marion will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
