I had the privilege of being one of Dr. King’s humanities students last spring semester. While I was nervous about the class at first I grew to love him. He quickly became one of my favorite professors. He taught us about culture & life, and helped me though a tough time in my personal life. Dr. King exuded joy every time he told a story of his wife or daughter. I can say he was one very proud father. I was looking forward to classes beginning this fall so I could drop by his office for a visit. My sincerest condolences go out to Dr. King’s wife, daughter, and other family members.
Go Cubs.

I had Dr. King for my British Literature professor this past spring semester. I was struggling at first in the class so I went to his office hours and he was so kind, patient, and helpful, and kept in touch with me throughout the semester to make sure I understood all the material. Sending my condolences to the rest of the King family during this time.

I had Dr. King for ENGL 1102 my freshmen year at Gordon and I just graduated in May. He made such a profound impact on me that I carry with me now. He saw something in me and pushed me the entire semester. He recommended me for a tutoring position in the SARC and he was always SO supportive. He was so kind, and witty. His humor was well above many students and I’m so glad I got to take his class because he could see each student as they were and help them and make them want to do better. I’m actually going to be a 4th grade English teacher in the fall and I hope to have a lasting impact on my students the way he had on me. I’m so sorry for your loss, he talked about his wife and daughter often and I know he will be deeply missed. My sincerest condolences are with you.

I only met Dr. King once, but he was a really sarcastic, but also a kind person. He was one of those professors where he would make students work for their grade from what I have heard from peers. Honestly I'm really sad I'll never experience having him as a professor during this fall. May you rest in peace Dr. King.

Dr. King I just had you as a professor last semester. You were such a down to earth professor and always talked of your wife and daughter. You were a great man with so much intelligence and passion for your work! You touched our lives and I wish that day I could have stayed for our final day together and pizza party. Rest easy Dr. King!

Laura, I am so sorry for your & Katie's loss. I'm in Barcelona, & at lunch one of my students asked if I knew Dr. King had passed away. I was so stunned & distraught that she apologized several times for having told me.
I liked & respected Mark, and I'm going to miss him.

Dear Diane and Terry,
I am in shock. You barely got back in stride after your mom's passing and now your brother. I am sending hugs to each of you.
Love, Dodie

Dear Mark, you were my first playmate. I loved when your family came over and we would play while our mom's chatted. As we got older, the mom's would take us to Shakey's Pizza, which was such a treat. I'll always remember those days in Chicagoland with you, Harry, Loretta, Terry and Diane, and I cherish those memories. Love always from your cousin Marilyn.
