Terry Coblentz

Obituary of Terry Wayne Coblentz

Terry Coblentz, age 78, resident of Barnesville GA passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, September 5, at his home. After an extended stay in Wellstar Spalding Hospital in Griffin, he only wanted to come home and be with his wife, Patricia (Pat) always Patty to him. They had met on each of their first blind dates in Feb. 1964 and were married in Memphis TN, 56 years ago on July 8, 1965. Terry was born on March 16, 1943 in San Antonio TX to the late William Frederick Coblentz and Madelynne Work Coblentz. He is preceded in death by his father, who passed away 3 months before Terry's birth; his mother, Madelynne; his step-father, Mike Gossett; his sister, Shirlene Coblentz; his brother William S. Coblentz (Bill); and his beloved daughter, Amy Michelle Coblentz. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pat; son and daughter-in-law Andy and Morgan Coblentz of Bartlett TN; his 3 grandsons, Trey, Hollis and Raylan who were his pride and joy; his brother and sister-in-law Gene and Audrey Coblentz of McCoy TX; many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly; so many who called him "Uncle Terry" that he had a special bond with; and his 2 sisters-in-law, Carolyn Agee of Memphis and Betty Mays of Columbus GA who he was very close to. Terry served 9 years in the Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from Delta Airlines after 30+ years. He was an avid deer hunter, also loved fishing, reading and watching westerns, and spending time with family and friends. He had such a generous spirit and was always available to help those in need in any way he could. He will be well-remembered for his sense of humor and that generous, loving spirit and will be so missed by all who knew and loved him. He requested there not be a service held, so that was honored. Rather than attending a formal memorial service, the wish is that all who remember him with love, do something kind for someone else and think fondly of him. He was a good man.
