Obituary of Ed Piper

Mr. Ed Piper, age 95 of Barnesville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 21st, 2022, at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Georgia. Ed was born on Thursday, February 18, 1926, in Lamar County to the late Edward H. Piper and Minnie Busbee Piper. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years Fannie Lou Martin Piper, sisters Agnes Buice, Doreen O’Neal, Annie Ruth Moss; stepmother Katie Piper, and stepbrother Wesley Heath. Mr. Piper was a family man, who treasured his loved ones. He enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and other great adventures. Even as he got up in age, you could still find Ed on his lawn mower tending to his yard. Ed was also a Life Deacon and long-time member at the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Ed is survived by his children, Terry Piper (Marie) and Linda Garrison (George); grandchildren, Jan Powers (Dean), Scott Piper (Angie), Rich Foster, Kelly Leetch, Meggie Knapp (Tim), and Anna O’Mary (Frankie); and 15 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Kay Pearson; stepsister, Martha Wise, and a host of extended family also survive. The family would also like to recognize Ms. Sharon Britt who took special care of Mr. and Mrs. Piper in their later years. Services for Mr. Ed will be conducted on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Barnesville with Reverend Garth Forster and Reverend Jason Teal officiating. Interment will follow the service at Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends and loved ones one hour prior to the service at the church.
