Obituary of Larry Joe Edwards

Mr. Larry Joe Edwards, age 79, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at his home, which he shared with his devoted wife, Dorothy Clark Edwards. Larry was born Sunday, January 3, 1943, to the late George Clifton Edwards and the late Elberta Caraway Edwards in Aldora, where he grew up in a very close family with two brothers and a sister. He graduated from Milner High School and attended business school in Atlanta, living in the city for a time before returning to the hometown he loved. He worked for Electric Storage Battery Company in Atlanta for years, commuting daily, before going to work locally for Weyerhaeuser Company supervising the saw shop. He was a very hard worker, but his greatest joy was in spending time with his family. He was a man of many talents and hobbies, including hunting, fishing, gardening, and carpentry. Larry was an animal lover; he especially loved dogs and had many faithful canine companions during his lifetime. He loved to play practical jokes and had a quick wit that kept all his friends and family in smiles and laughter through the years. He was an active member of Aldora United Methodist Church and loved his church family. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Dorothy; four children and their spouses, Blake and Christina Edwards of Griffin, Marla Edwards Goncalves of College Park; Beverly and Ronnie Hendrix of Mint Hill, N.C., and Sharon and Marc Montgerard of Indian Trail, N.C.; four grandchildren, Dietrich Eppley, Annabel Goncalves, Brandon Montgerard, and Gavin Goncalves; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Roselle Edwards of McDonough, and Gary and Donna Edwards of Barnesville; sister, Nancy Roberts of Griffin; brothers-in-law and their wives, Ray and Christine Clark of Chicago, Wayne and Glenelle Clark of McDonough; and sister-in-law, Linda Aubrey of Riverside; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
