Obituary of Mr. Blane Thomas Cauthen
Mr. Blane Thomas Cauthen, age 50, of Barnesville, Georgia passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, at Upson Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Blane was born on Sunday, April 15, 1973, to Dr. Gerald and Hedy Cauthen at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. A lifelong resident of Lamar County, Blane is the son of Dr. Gerald Cauthen and Mrs. Hedy Scoggins Cauthen. He was preceded in death by his brother, Britton Eugene Cauthen, By his Maternal grandparents, James T. (Bill) and Helen Clark Scoggins, his Paternal grandparents, Roy E. Cauthen and Jan Cauthen, and his Paternal grandmother, Lillie Stanford Cauthen.
As a teenager, his love of woodworking and electronics began, when he built and installed speakers in the entire trunk of his car. Also, in the trunks of several friend’s cars! He enjoyed working with his hands, which led to a variety of hobbies that would use his problem-solving skills. After college and a degree in Industrial Maintenance, he was led to a career in this field at Perdue Industrial
in Amarillo, Texas, and Computer Chips Manufacturing, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. At the time of his death, Blane was self-employed in the field of Information Technology and Networking.
Blane proudly served in the United States Army as an Aviation Welder. He served in Kosovo during the armed conflict, and was stationed in Korea and Fort Stewart, Georgia. Blane was an Eagle Scout and was Baptized at First Baptist Church in Barnesville. He was also a Mason in Griffin, Georgia.
Survivors include his sons, Taylor Thomas Cauthen, Wife, Daisy, Bedford, Texas, Nicholas Andrew Cauthen, Forsyth, Georgia and Dawson Reed Cauthen, Barnesville, Georgia. His parents, Dr. Gerald Cauthen and Hedy Scoggins Cauthen, Barnesville, Georgia, Brother Christopher Scot Cauthen, Wife, Jessamy, Tallahassee, Florida and LauraLee Felts, Husband, Ken, Forsyth, Georgia and one Granddaughter, Olivia Alexandria Cauthen, Bedford, Texas. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and several cousins, special coworkers and special friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Blane Cauthen will be conducted Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Barnesville. Pastor Garth Forster and Pastor Jason Teal will be officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 pm before the service in the Sanctuary.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Greenwood Cemetery Preservation Association, contact City Hall, Barnesville, Georgia.
