Obituary of Robert Wayne Williams
Arrangements for Robert Wayne "Pete" Williams age 87 will be announced later.
Pete was born in Meansville, GA to the late William Asa Williams and Edith Stallings Williams. He was a contractor in Griffin for over 30 years. His love for speed was shown when he won a horse race at the local fair as a teen, when he captained his speedboat, and when he raced on small dirt tracks in the area in his Mustang Mach I. Pete loved the Lord, and he loved to spread the Gospel. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Jackson, and he also attended New Life Tabernacle and Mountain View Baptist Church. He loved to work and he loved to play, especially with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Williams and Larry Williams, and two step-grandsons, Cody Maddox and Chris Lowry.
He is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Rose Williams; son, Steve (Teresa) Williams, all of Thomaston; step-daughter, Denean Crowder, of Thomaston; step-sons, Jason Crowder, of Barnesville, Frank Crowder, of Griffin; granddaughter, Julie (Allen) Cox, of New Hope, AL; grandsons, Jeremiah( Jessica) Williams , of Griffin, Joshua (Sara) Williams, of Thomaston, Matthew Lowry, of Thomaston; step grandsons Bo Thompson and Joshua Shaw. 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gail (Joseph) Moncrief and Joanne Bolton, both of Jackson; many nieces and nephews and cousins including Jan Washington (George) of Jackson, Rick A. Williams of Milledgeville and Brenda Williams of Gordon.
