Obituary of Arthur Long

Mr. Arthur Allen “Double A” Long, Jr., age 64, of Barnesville passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Long was a native of Laurens County, but had made his home in Barnesville for over 30 years. Son of the late Mr. Arthur Allen Long, Sr. and the late Mrs. Laura Isabelle Carroll Hopper, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Inez Miller Long, and by a daughter, Mrs. Michelle Tanner. “Double A” as some of his old friends called him, worked with Southern Railways and it’s successor, Norfolk Southern. Mr. Long was a quiet family man. He loved his family dearly, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and close friends. Among his favorite hobbies were farming and working on engines. Survivors include: his Son - James Allen Herbert (& Kathy) of Fayette County ; 2 Daughters - Pamela Summey (& Eddie) of Barnesville & Linda Cunningham (& Glen, III) of Barnesville ; Grandchildren - Sarah Camacho (& Javier) of Senoia ; Heather Norman of Barnesville ; Glen Cunningham, IV of Barnesville ; & Ashley Anderson of Barnesville ; & 2 Great Grandchildren - Gabrianna Camacho & Thomas Griggs, Jr. Funeral Services for Mr. Arthur Allen Long, Jr. will be conducted Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11 O’Clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Reverend Franklin Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening (9-4-09) from 7pm until 9pm. Williams Funeral Home of Barnesville is in charge of arrangements.
