Obituary of Earline Shockley

Mrs. Earline Hendrick Shockley, age 88, of Barnesville passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009 in an Upson County Healthcare Facility. Mrs. Shockley was a native of Lee County, Mississippi, but had made her home in Lamar County for most of her life. Daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Bolen Hendrick and the late Mrs. Leona Johnson Hendrick, she was also preceded in death by her Husband, Mr. Samuel Edward Shockley, Sr., by her Brother, Mr. Jesse Bolen Hendrick, and by her Sister, Mrs. Vauneta Hendrick Monaghan. Mrs. Shockley Retired from Quality Control at The William Carter Company, and Retired in January of this year as Bailiff for the Lamar County Courthouse. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class, Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), and Young at Heart. Mrs. Shockley was also a member of The Greyhound Retiree Club and “First Friends” through First National Bank. She had also been a volunteer at Heritage Inn Nursing Home. Survivors include: 2 Sons - Samuel Edward Shockley, Jr. (& Donna) of Jonesboro, & Thomas Mills Shockley of Barnesville ; 1 Daughter - Carolyn Shockley Parker (& Alan) of Barnesville ; 7 Grandchildren ; & 6 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Earline Hendrick Shockley will be conducted Monday, September 14, 2009 at 11 O’Clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Sunday evening (9-13-09) from 6pm until 8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that Memorial Contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, 200 Zebulon Street, Barnesville, GA 30204.
