Obituary of James Simpkins

Mr. James Thurner Simpkins, age 66, of Milner passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009 in a Spalding County Healthcare Facility. A native of Spalding County, he had made his home in Lamar County for a number of years. Son of the late Mr. James Isaac Simpkins and the late Mrs. Lois Hill Simpkins, he was also preceded in death by a Brother-in-law, Mr. Critt Gerald Graham, Sr.. Mr. Simpkins was Retired as Production Manager from the Department of Labor in the Industries for the Blind. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of The Rock Tabernacle in Griffin. Survivors include: His wife - Mrs. Joyce Simpkins of Milner ; His Daughter - Lisa Michelle Turner (& David) of High Falls ; His Son - Michael Eugene Blankenship of Orchard Hill ; 3 Grandchildren - Willow Rain Blankenship-Squires of Locust Grove , Scott Turner of Barnesville & Megan Turner of High Falls ; 2 Sisters - Avis Marie Simpkins of Montgomery, Alabama & Barbara Diane Graham of Lilburn ; 1 Niece - Kari Graham of Atlanta ; & 1 Nephew - Critt Graham, Jr. of Lilburn. Funeral Services for Mr. James T. Simpkins will be conducted Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11 O’Clock in The Rock Tabernacle in Griffin with Pastor Riley Fenley & Pastor Mark Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Monday evening (10-5-09) from 6pm until 8pm.
