Obituary of Hilda Strickland

Mrs. Hilda Virginia Fortson Strickland, age 74, of Milner, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at a Spalding County Healthcare Facility. Mrs. Strickland is preceded in death by her Father, Mr. Tom Edd Fortson, and her Mother, Mrs. Lois Annie McConnell. Mrs. Strickland was a member of the Red Hat Society and she loved gardening, flowers and meeting people. Mrs. Strickland was a homemaker, a loving wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a very involved member of the Milner First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband and soul mate of 55 years Mr. Donald Elmo Strickland ; 1 son – David Strickland (&Marcia) of Stockbridge Ga.; 1 Daughter – Donna Farrenkopf (& Fred) of Jersey Ga.; 6 Grandchildren – Ashley Bell Chatley, Erin Studstill, Meghan Wiggins, Loren Smithey, Ethan Strickland, and Taylor Farrenkopf ; 2 Great Grandchildren - Reagan Studstill and David Studstill; 2 Brothers – Darrell Fortson (&Marion), and Ed Fortson (&Rachel); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Hilda Virginia Fortson Strickland will be held Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 3 O’clock at Milner United Methodist Church with the Reverend Claude Herbert officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, December 14th, from 2 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to “Missions” at Milner United Methodist Church, 174 Main Street, Milner Ga. 30257.
