Obituary of Warner Morgan

Mr. Warner J. “Snap” Morgan, age 86, of Milner passed away Friday morning, December 11, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Morgan was a native of Meriwether County, but had made his home in Lamar County for most of his life. Son of the late Mr. Carolton B. Morgan and the late Mrs. Minnie Estelle Cooper Morgan, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Ann Ethridge Morgan. Mr. Morgan Retired after 25 years as a Human Resources Manager from the Georgia Diagnostic Prison in Butts County. Mr. Morgan was a WWII Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a 50 year Mason, and was a member of Pinta Lodge # 88 F. & A.M. in Barnesville. Mr. Morgan was a former Lamar County Commissioner, a former Mayor of Milner, and was a Current City Councilman in Milner. Mr. Morgan was just recently honored with the City of Milner declaring December 16th as “Snap Morgan Day.” Mr. Morgan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Survivors include: His Daughter - Mrs. Hilda (& Lawson) Farmer of Barnesville ; 1 Brother - Graydon Morgan of Barnesville ; 2 Grandsons - Mark (& Lane) Farmer of Barnesville & Michael (& Jennive) Farmer of Naples, FL ; 1 Grand Daughter - Karmen (& Clay) Chambless of Dalton ; & 6 Great Grandchildren - Morgan, Macy, Landon, Austin, Hardin, & Haddie. Funeral Services for Mr. Warner Junior “Snap” Morgan will be conducted Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 2 O’Clock in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with Reverend Garth Forster and Reverend Olivia Alexis officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, December 13, 2009 at the First Baptist Church from 1 O’Clock until the service hour.
