Obituary of Martha Smith

Mrs. Martha “Genie” Gordy Smith, age 93, of Milner, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, January 1, 2010. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Mr. Chandler Franklin Gordy and the late Mrs. Ethel Zellner Gordy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Mr. Aldene Smith, a brother, Mr. Franklin Gordy and a daughter Mrs. Latane Peters. Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her devoted son Gordy Smith and wife, Gayle of Milner; 3 Granddaughters – Melinda Villarreal (& her husband Dan) of California, Melanie Maynard (& her husband Mike) of Milner and Joni Plank of Atlanta; Seven great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Genie Smith will be conducted from the Graveside on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 3:30pm in Milner Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Monday afternoon from 2pm until 3pm. Williams Funeral Home of Barnesville is in charge of arrangements. (770) 358-1678
