Obituary of William Calloway

Mr. William “Paul” Calloway, age 79, of Milner passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 in a Barnesville Healthcare facility. He was born March 17, 1937 in Bolingbroke, GA to the late Alton & Virginia Callaway and was also preceded in death by siblings Ruth Callaway, Betty Callaway, Bertha Callaway English (& Johnny), Gladys Callaway Turner, and Charles Callaway (& Delores). He moved to Milner, Georgia in September of 1950, where he resided with his wife, Winifred, for 43 years; He attended Milner High School in 1957 and became employed with Central of Georgia Railroad in June of 1957. He was the last employee to retire from Central as a machine operator in August of 1997. He received the Norfolk Southern R.R. 1994 Quality Achievement Award and the 2003 John S. Perry Masonic Achievement Award. In 2010 he was recognized by Pinta Lodge #88 F & AM as a 50 year Mason. He was awarded Citizen of the year in Milner for 2012. He was a custodian for 52 years at the Milner Baptist Church. Mr. Calloway was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Milner where he was a custodian for 25 years. Bethel Baptist Church named March 17, 2002 as Paul Calloway Day. Survivors include his Wife- Winifred Calloway of Milner; Son- Charles E. Calloway of Culloden; Daughter- Evelyn Calloway Merchant (& Samuel) of Barnesville; 2 Sisters- Dorothy Calloway Taylor (& Al) and Carolyn Calloway Crawford (& David); 2 Brothers- Harold Callaway and Benjamin Callaway (& Brenda); Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Mr. William “Paul” Calloway will be conducted on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10 O’ clock in the Bethel Baptist Church in Milner with the Reverend Franklin Gibson and the Reverend Milton Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Milner Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 6pm until 8pm.
